Getaways from El-Jadida
Our recommendations for walks in the surrounding area starting from the Riad:
Half-day excursions:
Visit to the city center and the Portuguese Quarter (half day):
Win the Portuguese city:
- Walk down from the Riad towards the Portuguese city via Zertouni Avenue,
- almost at the bottom of the avenue, one of the oldest mosques in the city, the Hamdounya Mosque,
- then one of the city's markets on the left,
- and finally, crossing Suez Avenue, you arrive at the Portuguese City.
In the city:
- you can walk around the ramparts which can be accessed from the eastern end of Hachmi Bahbah Street or from the St. Antoine Bastion (northwestern tip of the city),
- On Hachmi Street, you will pass the Cistern, which we hope will reopen soon, and the large five-sided Mosque,
- Stop in the shops and especially go up to one of the terraces to take a break and enjoy the view of the city (see our restaurant/cafe recommendations).
Upon leaving the city:
- Turn left, walk along Labrija Square and its large sundial, continue along Suez Avenue to the main beach of El-Jadida,
- Go to Mohamed 5 Park or turn left onto Avenue des Forces Armées Royales to Hassan II Park, then return to the Riad via Avenue Houmane Al Fatouaki and then Avenue Pasteur.

Visit to Azemmour (half day):
- Park near the ramparts or have a grand taxi drop you off in that area.
- In the old town, don't miss the small artisans, the path above the Oum Errabia river with its few small cafes and restaurants, and a short boat or canoe trip.
- and don't leave without visiting the Artisan's house!

Day trips:
Day trip to Oualidia:
- Take the coastal road in the morning towards Sidi-Bouzid, then Moulay Abellah, then towards Oualidia.
- After the Cap Blanc lighthouse, be aware of the change in scenery; you will cross the port and industrial zone of Jorf for approximately 8 km. This zone employs around 10,000 people in the energy, phosphate, fertilizer, chemical, and lithium-ion battery component sectors.
- Take a break for seafood, oysters... it's mandatory!
- Go down for a walk, swim at the beach and the fishing port... also not to be missed,
- if time is of the essence, return to El-Jadida via the motorway.

Oualidia-Safi loop:
- Leave early to discover Oualidia in the late morning, have lunch there, then head towards Safi.
- In Safi, park at the bottom of Avenue Moulay Youssef and discover the medina with the pottery market (green tag), climb the potters' hill to learn about pottery and end the day with a light meal, a juice and the sunset on one of the rooftops on the corniche.
